What we have been reading - 15th September 2023

This is what we have enjoyed reading recently:

Least Bad: A truly fantastic article by Scott Galloway on the dominance of the US and why it never pays to bet against it.

Indexing Is Still the Best Bet for Investors:  I love this article because it follows on so perfectly from Guy's recent excellent article on this same topic. Burton Malkiel wrote one of the most famous finance books "A Random Walk Down Wall Street" so if you don't believe us, then you might be inclined to believe him!

Respect and Admiration: Morgan Housel just seems to put it so much better than anyone else.

Dollar Cost Averaging in a Bear Market Wins Again:  A simple explanation of why we love dollar-cost averaging.

Busting 7 Common Myths:  There is always someone with the doomsday scenario but this article does a good job of explaining, with simplicity, why some common worries are overdone.

Stop Bank Robbers:  Theft and scamming isn't going away anytime soon, and is probably going to get worse with AI. This is an important read.

How To Be Lucky:  Don't we all want a bit of luck in our lives?

Never Look Down the Road Not Taken:  I love the way Nick Maggiulli explains this: The way you think things would've have turned out is not the way they actually would've turned out. Read this article if you have deep regret about a financial decision you did or didn't make.

FINALLY:

Food in America compared to the U.K. (Why is it so different?):  I knew this, but seeing it in black and white freaked me out.

ENJOY!
